Connie Kay Strautz

Connie Kay Strautz (85) of Dexter, passed away on June 6, 2025, after a long illness. Born and raised in Plymouth, Michigan, Connie graduated from Plymouth High School in 1957 and worked as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone Company, now AT&T. In 1964, she married widower Robert L. Strautz and helped him raise his three children (Pauline Doris, Robin Lee, and Robert Thomas) and their daughter (Lisa Kay).

In 1974, Connie and Lisa moved to Dexter, a place Connie called home for nearly 50 years. Over the years, she worked at a variety of businesses as an administrative assistant, but many Dexter residents will remember Connie as the greeter at Dexter Pharmacy, where she zipped around on her scooter, helping customers and tidying shelves.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick G. Killingworth and Arbutus Rose Killingworth Munch (née Williams); and her sisters, Freda Bailey, Joann Williams, and Wanda Shrank.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Kay Strautz Veasey; her son-in-law, Thomas F. Veasey; her grandchildren, Evan and Elaina Veasey; as well as many nieces and nephews.

At Connie’s request, a funeral will not be held, but those who wish may make a donation in her memory to Dexter Meals on Wheels (dexterseniors.org).
