NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER AMENDMENTS TO THE GENERAL CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 58 – UTILITIES,
ARTICLE 4 – SEWER SERVICE
Notice is hereby given that the Dexter City Council will hold a public hearing on September 22, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Dexter City Hall, 3515 Broad St., Dexter, Michigan, for the purpose of hearing public comment regarding proposed changes to the General Code of Ordinances, Chapter 58 – Utilities.
The changes to the Utilities Ordinance include, but are not limited to a reorganization of articles, divisions, and sections; changes to definitions; clarification of process for projects impacting the wastewater system; update to pollutant limits and special alternative limits (SALs) based on the City’s MAHL and TMDL; clarification of standards for connecting to the wastewater system; setting standards for disconnection from the wastewater system; standards for discontinuation of wastewater service; clarification on requirements for separate connections per unit; additional clarification on standards for private wastewater disposal; update of distance from sewer main for required connection; additional clarification on types of material not suitable for discharge into the wastewater system; new regulations and requirements for installation and maintenance of grease interceptors and their design and maintenance standards; update of industrial discharge standards; update of industrial user capital recovery charge regulations; and additional clarification on rates, charges, and billing procedures.
The draft changes are available for public inspection at City Hall, 3515 Broad St., Dexter, MI 48130; weekdays between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They are also available online at dextermi.gov. Any questions regarding the ordinance updates should be directed to the City Manager’s Office at 734-426-8303.
Interested parties are welcome to attend the public hearing and present their comments. Written comments regarding the proposal should be submitted to the City Manager’s Office at the address listed above or via email to [email protected], and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
