The Greater Milan Area Community Foundation is accepting applications for its Skilled Trades Scholarship, which supports students pursuing hands-on career training.
The $1,000 scholarships are open to students of any age pursuing skilled trades and technical careers. Eligible fields include plumbing, electrical work, cosmetology, nursing and other career training programs.

Dave Snyder, president of the Greater Milan Area Community Foundation, said the scholarship is intended to support local residents pursuing trade careers.
“We are really pleased to now be offering a scholarship to Milan area young adults who are pursuing training in the skilled trades,” Snyder said. “This can take the form of either tuition payments or life needs to allow education, like child care, transportation or required trade tools.”
According to the foundation, scholarship funds are paid directly to accredited training programs and are generally non-taxable.
Applications are reviewed twice each year, and applicants may reapply. The next application deadline is April 30.
