As JD’s Stage Bistro in downtown Chelsea continues to take shape and build momentum toward its anticipated late-spring opening, the team has announced the newest addition to its leadership.
Susie Sutter will serve as General Manager, bringing over two decades of hospitality leadership and a dedication to guest-focused service.
A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Sutter began working in the restaurant industry in 1998, quickly discovering a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences and building strong, service-driven teams. In the early 2000s, she spent several formative years with Knight’s Steakhouse, where she developed a strong foundation in restaurant operations and high-quality hospitality.
From 2007 to 2013, Sutter lived in Chicago, gaining valuable experience in one of the country’s most dynamic dining scenes. During that time, she worked at LUXBAR, part of the renowned Gibsons Restaurant Group, where she further refined her leadership skills and commitment to elevated service.
In 2014, she returned to Ann Arbor to help open Knight’s Downtown, where she has played an integral role in the restaurant’s growth and success ever since.
Sutter joins a growing leadership team that includes Executive Chef Nate Wegryn, Amanda Daniels, Venue Manager & Talent Buyer, Ben Daniels, Production Manager, and a dynamic group of artists, producers, and creative partners shaping the venue’s music programming. Together, this team is laying the foundation for a one-of-a-kind destination that blends exceptional dining with live performance.
