NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO WEBSTER TOWNSHIP PUBLIC
NUISANCE ORDINANCE
Ordinance No. 2011-1 & Resolution No. 26-01 as adopted on January 20, 2026
WEBSTER TOWNSHIP | WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN
At a regular meeting of the Township Board of Webster Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan, held at the Webster Township Hall on the 20th day of January 2026, at 7:00 p.m. the following action was taken:
Township Trustee Savander moved to adopt the following ordinance by Resolution No. 26-01, which motion was seconded by Trustee Harms.
AYES: Vrsek, Munzel, DeAngelo, Scharf, Harms, Savander
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Brovont
SUMMARY OF AMENDMENT
An ordinance to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Webster Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan, by defining and prohibiting public nuisances; declaring certain acts, apparatus, accumulations, violations, and activities as public nuisances per se;
THE TOWNSHIP OF WEBSTER, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN ORDAINS
- Section 3, Subsection 1.a
Minor corrections to numbering and language.
- Section 3, Subsection 1.b and Subsection 1.b.i
Addition of the following clarification:
“Nothing in this Ordinance shall be interpreted in a manner that conflicts with the terms of the Michigan Right to Farm Act, Act 93 of 1981 (“RTFA”).”
- Section 3, Subsections 7, 8, and 9
Establishment of standards regulating the conditions under which certain animals, including livestock and poultry, may be kept in residential areas of Webster Township. These provisions address nuisance concerns related to odors, noise, and other impacts associated with animals and are intended to minimize social conflict and protect public health.
These standards include, but are not limited to:
- Nuisance prevention
- Food storage
- Animal housing
- Animal slaughtering
- Disposal of deceased animals
- Manure management
- Animal care
Existing standards related to animal restraint and animal bites are renumbered accordingly.
A true copy of the ordinance may be inspected at the Webster Township Hall, 5665 Webster Church Road, Dexter, Michigan 48130, during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or online at www.webstermi.us. This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after its publication, or publication of a summary thereof, in a newspaper of general circulation within Webster Township.
