NOTICE OF ADOPTION
OF AMENDMENT
TO THE
LIMA TOWNSHIP ZONING ORDINANCE
Notice is hereby given that the Lima Township Board of Trustees adopted an amendment of the Lima Township Zoning Ordinance on April 14, 2025.
The text amendment is to Sections 2.2 – Definitions, and to Section 5.37.7 – Keeping of Chickens in Residential Districts. The ordinance amendment permits the keeping of chickens for non-commercial purposes in the R-1A, R-1B, R-1C, or R-1D zoning districts. Additionally, the ordinance prohibits the slaughtering of chickens and requires a zoning compliance permit for the keeping of chickens.
The Lima Township Planning Commission held a public hearing on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., in accordance with the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended, and received public feedback on the draft ordinance language.
The ordinance takes effect 7 days after the publication date of this notice of adoption.
