VARIANCE REQUEST and PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
January 18, 2023
TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF SYLVAN, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN, AND ANY OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Sylvan Township Zoning Board of Appeals will conduct a public hearing and meeting on January 18, 2023 commencing at 7:00 p.m. at the Sylvan Township Hall, 18027 Old U.S. 12, within the Township, to consider the following:
Item 1: Application by Kathryn and Andrew Kellogg, 260 and 268 Shoreview Drive, Chelsea Michigan for a variance request to consider the removal and rebuilding on the combined nonconforming lots which will be less than the required 1 acre minimum. A variance request for the reduction of the front yard/lake side setback from the required 50 ft. to 29 ft. 5 in. to the water line, 12 ft. 5 in. to the property line. A variance to increase the lot coverage to 23% and a floor to area ratio of 29.9% from the required 20% lot coverage and 20% floor to area ratio. The project will also request consideration to allow the applicant to remain living in the 260 Shoreview structure while the principal structure is being built on the combined lots, with removal of the 260 Shoreview structure after occupancy of the newly built structure.
- Such other and further matters as shall lawfully come before the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Anyone interested in reviewing the Application referenced above, the Township Zoning Map, the Township Zoning Ordinance, or Township Land Use Plan may examine a copy by contacting the undersigned Zoning Administrator of the township via telephone or email; and/or by appointment with the same at the township hall. Such items will be available at the meeting. The Township Zoning Ordinance can be accessed on www.municode.com.
Written comments will be received from any interested persons concerning the foregoing by the Sylvan Township Zoning Administrator at the Township Hall at any time during regular business hours up to the date of the hearing and may be further received by the Zoning Board of Appeals at the hearing.
All interested persons are invited to be present at the aforesaid time and place.

The public may only speak during the public hearing and during public comment by being physically present at the meeting. Such comments will be limited to three minutes per person for each item.
Sylvan Township will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed material being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disabilities at the hearing upon four (4) days' notice to the Zoning Administrator. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact the Zoning Administrator at the address or telephone number listed below.
