Larry Lee Cameron

Larry Lee Cameron, 92, left this life on June 14th, 2023 in Howell, MI. Larry was born in his family’s home in Powhatan, Arkansas. Born at the cusp of the Great Depression, he learned how hard life could be, and believed survival depended on hard work and fortitude, these are the lessons he passed down to his children and grandchildren. During World War II, at only 15 years old, he left home and began working on farms for $3 a day. He slowly made his way north to Michigan where he settled in Detroit, MI. Larry met the love of his life, Pauline, and they married September 23, 1950. Only 11 months after their marriage Larry was drafted to fight in the Korean War. He was assigned to 1st Marines, 1st Battalion, known as the 1st
of the First. Larry was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart, he was honorably discharged in August 1953. With only an 8th grade education, Larry, through wit, grit, and sheer determination was able to provide well for his family and build a successful poured wall company which, due to his resolute work ethic has remained a quality business for almost 50 years, spanning 3 generations. He was a tough man who wanted his legacy to be shown through the strength of his children and their children. Larry lived a long and fulfilled life, the stories of his labors will continue to bring laughs, tears, and pride for generations to come.

Larry was the last surviving child of parents Jim and Opal Cameron. He was preceded in death by his three siblings; Jay, Wilma, and Ernest, and his loving wife Pauline (Gouthro). He is survived by his 4 children Cheryl, Mike, Gwen (Guenther) and Larry. His 5 grandchildren; Tara Guenther, Samantha Jovanovich, Theresa Guenther, Cory Cameron, and Brandon Cameron and his 3 greatgrandchildren; Nylah Cameron, Mason Larkin, and Eli Guenther.
