On the night of October 14, hateful, anti-semitic, anti-LGBTQ, anti-feminist propaganda was left in people's driveways and yards in the Lanewood neighborhood of Chelsea. The affected neighborhood has been encouraged by the Chelsea Police Department to report the receipt of these flyers to the CPD. Reverend Eric Stricklin (St. Paul’s UCC) alerted the wider community to this “alarming and unacceptable” event. Eric drafted a supportive response in writing. Thank you, Eric! This is forthcoming as a joint press release approved by community organizations Equality Chelsea, One World, One Family and Chelsea local faith communities.
At the October 15 Chelsea City Council meeting, City Manager Martin Colburn acknowledged this event, reminding of everyone's responsibility to build and maintain a community of peace and mutual understanding.
Chelsea Police Chief Kevin Kazyak acknowledged this event at the October 16 City Council meeting. He requested any citizens who received these flyers to please call the Police Department at 475-1771. The police department is particularly interested in any details or any witnesses to this distribution.
