Bruce W. Hoover

Bruce W. Hoover, 76, of Sumpter, Oregon passed away on June 19, 2023, in Boise, Idaho. He was born November 28, 1946, in Stockbridge, MI to Warren and Ann (VanBlaircum) Hoover. He grew up in the country where he learned hunting, fishing, and working at neighborhood farms learning many trades. He was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Bruce graduated from Chelsea High School in 1964. He served in the United States Army 1966-1969 and was stationed in Germany and the United States. He was married to Marianne Edwards, also of Chelsea in 1966. Together they had one son, Bryan Hoover.

Bruce lived in several places in the US, always learning new talents and improving on what he learned as a young man. Eventually he was self employed as a mason. He created beautiful fireplaces and other artistic brick or stonework. He also constructed homes while living in Oregon. He enjoyed the wildlife around his home in the mountains.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Samuel Hoover of Chelsea. He is survived by his son Bryan (Ann) Hoover of Hancock, MI, grandchildren Jersey and Wyatt Hoover. Family also surviving includes Jacqueline (Roy) Wentz, Daniel (Janet) Hoover, and Elizabeth Kalmbach, all of Chelsea. Included in those that will miss him are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation has taken place and later his ashes will be scattered on the mountain property he loved.
