Synopsis of Regular Meeting Minutes

December 11, 2023 7:00 PM

Supervisor Luick opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. All Board members were present. The agenda was approved as presented. The Consent Agenda for the Minutes of the November 13, 2023 meeting, Payroll and Accounts Payable was approved.

First Public Comment included questions on why residents could not be included in the process. A motion in December 14, 2020 to stop spending any further funds towards a new hall failed. No record was found of a motion removing the original town hall design from the table.

Reports were given.

Motion by McKenzie for a public meeting to discuss township hall options with the public based on current and historical information failed.

Motion passed to approve renovation of the town hall with the addition of election space and township offices at a cost of $1,149,780.

Motion passed to approve 11452 Jackson Road as the voting location for the new Precinct 1.

Motion passed to authorize the release of the Lima Township Draft Master Plan Update for review in accordance with the Michigan Planning Enabling Act (PA33 of 2008 as amended).

Motion passed to appoint Howard Sias, Kenneth Prielipp, Sr. to the Planning Commission for a 3 year term, appoint Nanette Havens and Greg McKenzie (alternate) to the WCCSWM for a 2 year term, appoint Dale Luick and Nanette Havens (alternate) to the Huron River Watershed Council for a 3 year term and Travis Heydlauff to the Zoning Board of Appeals for a 3 year term and to table action on the Chelsea Area Fire Authority (2 year term) to the January 2024 meeting.

Final Public Comments included the question Why?, comments regarding public participation in the hall decision process, and questions about a past survey.
