Synopsis of Regular Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, January 9, 2024 7:00 PM
Supervisor Luick opened the meeting at 7:00 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance. Board members present were Duane Luick, Nanette Havens, Ann Kwaske, Dale Luick, and Greg McKenzie. The agenda was approved with 3 additions. The Consent Agenda for 12/27/2023 Minutes, Payroll, and Accounts Payable was approved.
In first public comment C. Chase made a presentation on a township ordinance that does not allow chicken on R1A zoned property and included a suggested modification to this ordinance. Township attorney V. Lillith discussed the draft of an agreement between the City of Chelsea and Lima Township regarding the Wolf development project.
The board approved entering a closed session with township attorney at 7:19pm. The board approved exiting the closed session at 8:08pm.
Reports were given. Approximately 1000 tax bills are still outstanding and residents have until Feb. 29 to pay. Concern that Pulte may be in arrears on escrow fees on several newly occupied homes in Thorton Farms development will be looked into. A. Kwaske was introduced as the newly appointed clerk and reported on the pre-election work being done included mailing of voter ID cards to residents in the former Precinct 2 which has been merged with Precinct 1 and the mailing of absentee ballot applications.
Motion passed to move forward with a quote for a redesigned township website. Motion was passed to approve Poverty Guidelines Resolution 2024-001. Motion passed to approve payment for Board of Review Training.
A discussion was had regarding the $1.15 million Township Hall Renovation / Addition Project that was approved at the December board meeting. After an extended discussion, it was decided that a work session is needed to address project plans. Motion by McKenzie, seconded by Du Luick set a township work session for January 29 at 5:00pm to set procedure and plan on how to implement the township hall project.
