Ruth Irene (Gottschalk) Heim

Ruth Irene (Gottschalk) Heim went to be with the lord on Holy Thursday morning March 28, 2024.
She was the happiest with family and friends. She loved bringing joy to others through volunteering and helping when there was a need. She was creative, artistic and loved sharing her creations with family and friends.
Ruth enjoyed making her crosses out of plastic and yarn till the end, sharing them with everyone she met at the hospital. She often said she was thankful for the life God blessed her with.
She grew up on a dairy farm and married a dairy farmer Earl R. Heim May 3, 1947 in Plymouth, MI. Where She was born to LeRoy Gottschalk and Martha Engel June 30, 1927.
Ruth and Earl enjoyed 49 years together. They traveled to Hawaii, Alaska and Europe with friends before retiring. She enjoyed catching up with fellow grads Class of '45 Plymouth High, every year for lunch. They raised their children on Heim Road farm where Earl was born in the farmhouse.
Ruth belonged to St. Mary's Altar Society and County Extension Club Chelsea, MI. Baking fruit pies every August for the Chelsea Fair kitchen.
Seeking warmer weather brought them to Nokomis, FL in 1977. Being snowbirds for several years. Establishing themselves in Bay Point neighborhood, often babysitting neighbors children. The neighbors remember most of Ruth was walking the neighborhood everyday. In later years her mobility of the left knee deteriorated to being in a wheelchair.
Ruth was an Arimathean for 20 years at Epiphany Cathedral Venice, FL. She watched Mass faithfully on Sunday morning in later years. She was also a member of Salvation Army Home League Venice, for many years. She went to SA camp with the girls and was a bellringer as well. Often traveling with the captains and lieutenants to Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia and on cruises to the Caribbean.
Raising six children on the farm: Ralph and Harold Heim of Grass Lake, Marvin (Sundra) Heim Chelsea, Arnold Heim Ann Arbor. Daughter, Elaine Heim of Nokomis, FL. Who took care of her mother the last 5 years of her life. Preceeding her in death son, Glenn Heim.
Leaving many grandchildren whom she cherished, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Nephew, Rev. Fr. David Harvey will celebrate a Memorial Mass on Saturday June 22, 2024, at 11 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church Chelsea, MI. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Arraignments by Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory Venice, FL.
