Proposal 3 would bring back "back-alley" abortions and eliminate parental notification
Whether you're pro-choice or pro-life, you should vote NO on Proposal 3, the so-called "Reproductive Freedom for All" state constitutional amendment.
Proponents of Prop 3 claim it is "pro-woman" and merely "restores Roe." These are lies. Prop 3 goes way beyond our current 24-26 week "viability" abortion limit. It allows anyone to perform abortions, and do so anywhere, and at any time, even at birth. All the mother has to do is claim "anxiety" and have this "condition" endorsed by a "health care professional," which includes acupuncturists, massage therapists, counselors, etc. It bans all inspections and requirements for safety, sanitation, emergency medical protocols, etc. It forbids prosecution of anyone who harms or kills a woman in the process of "aiding or assisting" her in having an abortion. These three points make for the very definition of "back-alley abortions." Isn't everyone against those? The potential for harm to and abuse of girls and women is incalculable.
But, in addition to the items above, Prop 3 would allow infanticide. If a "health care professional" agreed and the mother consented, a NICU premature baby could be denied life-saving care. And Prop 3 ends the ban on tax-payer funding for abortion.
Prop 3 is also anti-child and anti-family. It states that “Every individual has a fundamental right to reproductive freedom, [including] … sterilization,” a term added as a Trojan Horse for gender-changing procedures. These new and limitless rights “shall not be denied, burdened, nor infringed on..." In practice, this will mean that your child (an "individual") can have abortions, get contraception, and undergo gender-changing procedures, without parental knowledge; and parents who object risk being prosecuted or losing custody of their children.
Proposal 3 would enshrine this total negation of parental rights in Michigan’s constitution. A constitutional amendment is far more difficult to change or overturn than a mere law.
