I read with interest the letter to the editor of the Sun Times this past Thursday from John Dunn, a member of the Chelsea community who raised a family here. I was heartened by his acknowledgement that several candidates for the Chelsea School Board (Kate Henson, Glenn Fox, Michelle Craig and Scott Moore) have been attacked in local social media. This is a problem, particularly concerning lies about the views of these candidates, where numerous misrepresentations have appeared.
However, it is clear that Mr. Dunn and the candidates that he is financing and supporting aim to inject divisive and hurtful national politics into our local school board, along with yelling outbursts, threats and lawsuits. This is unprecedented in the entire history of Chelsea schools. So, my thought is that the candidates represent two schools of thought…
If you wish to inject politics and lawsuits that divide and paralyze our school board, vote for Julie Mallie, Tom Golding, Ross Greenstein and John Piatt.
If you wish to continue the mostly cooperative and consensus-driven oversight of the Chelsea schools, and to support students rather than contentious parents, vote for Kate Henson, Glenn Fox, Michelle Craig and Scott Moore.
