David Neil Knope, age 71, of Dexter, Michigan passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 17, 2022. David was born to Floyd and Janet Knope in Ann Arbor, Michigan on July 17, 1951.

David graduated from Dexter High school in 1969. He married Georgia Sue Johnson in 1973. Over the next thirteen years, the couple welcomed three children into the family. David was employed by Cribley Drilling Company, Dexter, Michigan, first as a well driller, and in sales in later years, retiring after 24 years. He will be fondly remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor, his genuine desire to help others, and his love for animals. He never missed one of his kid’s sporting events and was always the loudest one in the stands.

David had a huge heart. He was a kind, generous individual who enjoyed helping out his family, friends, and neighbors in any way he could. He was passionate about gardening, Nascar, and the town of Dexter, where he spent his entire life. He was a volunteer firefighter in Dexter, Michigan for nearly 25 years, donating his time to many community causes like holiday care packages for the less fortunate, Christmas luminaries, Great Day to be Alive, and other local events. He was always tinkering with something in his garage where he spent most of his time, be it a chainsaw, his antique tractor, or one of the many classic cars he’s owned over years. He was a lifetime member of St. Andrews United Church of Christ in Dexter.

David is survived by his wife, Georgia Knope; his sons Matthew (Jennifer), and Chad (Lisa) his daughter Alyssa Sanders (Tate) of Brownsburg, Indiana, his grandchildren Maddison and Taylor (Matt), Lucas, Lincoln, and Luella (Chad) and Pierce (Alyssa). He is also survived by his sister Diane Berry (Clyde) of Satellite Beach, Florida, her children, Kristin Shotzbarger (Steven, Steven Jr., and Aria) and Sean Berry; step-siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and his Aunt Joyce Knope Waggoner.

He is preceded in death by his mother Janet Kemp (and stepfather Joe), his father Floyd Knope (and stepmother Janice), and his stepsister Renee Krull.
