Susan Lynn Kennedy 2/28/1945 - 4/15/2023
Susan Lynn Kennedy, 78, Dexter, MI passed away on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at the Henry Ford Health Hospice in Jackson, MI. Sue was born in Ann Arbor, MI to Kenneth and Marguerite (Augustine) McCallum. From early childhood she had a great love of animals and always had pets of various kinds. Sue instilled in others including her children a love of all creatures (besides spiders!) such as toads and turtles. She loved the outdoors and had a special place in her heart for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where she even lived part time for a number of years. She enjoyed walks in nature with her dogs, reading cozy mysteries with a cat on her lap and talking with people at great length about life. Before retirement she worked hard to support her family including at Malloy's in Dexter. Sue was known to be feisty and speak her mind. She will be missed by many.
Sue is survived by her daughter Terry Hirth Caldwell, son-in-law Bob and grandson Joshua of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren Kaelyn (Nick Wood), Kiera and Kyler Hirth of Great Falls, Montana, friends, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also her cat Suzy. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Richard Reagan Hirth, half-sister Phyllis McCallum Goodrich (her husband Frank) and many beloved friends, family and pets. A celebration of life will be held on June 4th, 2023 at 3pm. It will be a hybrid service at Church of the Good Shepherd in Ann Arbor and on Zoom. We would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Henry Ford Health Hospice in Jackson. They were wonderful and I appreciate all the kindness they showed both my mom and me during her last month.
