ORDINANCE NO. 2023 – 03
At a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dexter, Michigan called to order by Mayor Keough
on, June 12, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at 3515 Broad St., Dexter, MI 48130, the following ordinance was adopted:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Arab, Griffin, Hubbard, Michels, Schlaff, Semifero, and Keough
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
AN ORDINANCE SETTING THE WATER, SEWER, AND RUBBISH RATES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2023
The City of Dexter Ordains:
Section 1: SEWER RATES
Ready to Serve Monthly Fee $11.65
Per 1,000 Gallons $14.34
Section 2: WATER RATES
Ready To Serve Monthly Fee $9.85
First Meter Per 1,000 Gallons $4.44
Second Meter Per 1,000 Gallons $6.00
Section 3: RUBBISH RATES
Residential Rubbish Monthly Fee $28.50
Commercial Rubbish Rate Contracted Rate + 3%
Section 4: OTHER CHARGES AND PENALTIES
Penalties on Late Charges 2% Cumulative
Turn-on and Turn-off Charges $35
Meter Calibration Charge $35
Water Only Meter 1 inch $350
Section 5: EXTRA STRENGTH SURCHARGES/INDUSTRIAL COST RECOVERY
Extra Strength Surcharges:
BOD in excess of 300 mg/l $1.10/pound
Suspended solids in excess of 275 mg/l $0.39/pound
Phosphorous as P in excess of 12 mg/l $8.16/pound
Industrial Cost Recovery:
Water usage in excess of 22 gpepd $0.49 per 1,000 gal.

Section 6: Effective Date
This Ordinance shall take effect upon publication as required by Section 15.12 of the City of Dexter Charter.
