NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION

SCIO TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN

NOVEMBER 7, 2023 ELECTION

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SCIO TOWNSHIP:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT AN ELECTION WILL BE HELD IN SCIO TOWNSHIP ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2023.

EARLY, IN-PERSON VOTING WILL BE OPEN FROM 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at SCIO TOWNSHIP MEETING HALL at 827 N. Zeeb Road EVERY DAY from SATURDAY OCTOBER 28 through SUNDAY NOVEMBER 5.

On ELECTION DAY on TUESDAY NOVEMBER 7, the POLLS WILL BE OPEN FROM 7:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M.

AT THE FOLLOWING POLLING LOCATIONS

Precinct 1: Washtenaw Intermediate School District, 1819 S. Wagner Road

Precinct 2: Kiwanis Club, 100 N. Staebler Road

Precinct 3: Washtenaw Intermediate School District, 1819 S. Wagner Road

Precinct 4: Kiwanis Club, 100 N. Staebler Road

Precinct 5: Scio Farms Clubhouse, 6655 Jackson Road

Precinct 6: Washtenaw Intermediate School District, 1819 S. Wagner Road

Precinct 7: Polo Fields Clubhouse, 5200 Polo Fields Drive

Precinct 8: Washtenaw Intermediate School District, 1819 S. Wagner Road.

FOR THE PURPOSES OF voting on the following Township Proposals:

Fire Services Improvement and Expansion Operating Question

Shall the Township of Scio be authorized to annually defray its costs of providing fire protection and emergency medical services, including maintenance of buildings, acquisition of apparatus and equipment, by special assessment pursuant to Act 33 of 1951, in an amount adjusted annually that does not exceed 3.75 mills ($3.75 on each $1,000 of taxable values) in any single year for ten (10) years, 2023-2032 inclusive?

Fire Services Improvement and Expansion Capital Question

Shall the Township of Scio be authorized to annually defray its costs of purchasing property, constructing buildings, and providing apparatus and equipment for newly constructed buildings to provide fire protection and emergency medical services by special assessment, pursuant to Act 33 of 1951, in an amount adjusted annually that does not exceed 0.75 mills ($0.75 on each $1,000 of taxable values) in any single year for twenty (20) years, 2023-2042 inclusive?

The authority under this Capital Question is effective only if both ballot questions are approved.

Absent Voter ballots are available for all elections. Registered voters may obtain an application for an Absent Voter ballot from the Scio Township Clerk’s Office. Registered voters may request an Absent Voter ballot online at the Michigan Voter Information Center, mi.gov/vote.

All polling locations are accessible for voters with disabilities. Voting instructions will be available in audio format and in Braille if requested of the Clerk in advance of the election. Electronic ballots for voters with disabilities may also be requested at mi.gov/vote.
