Dexter: PC Public Hearing 5-6-24 on Amendment to the Future Land Use Map

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

AMENDMENT TO THE MASTER PLAN

Pursuant to Michigan Public Act 33 of 2008 (the Michigan Planning Enabling Act), as amended, notice is hereby given that the City of Dexter Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2024. The public hearing will be held in City Council Chambers, located at 3515 Broad St, Dexter, MI, 48130.

The purpose of the public hearing is to receive comments on the proposed amendment to the Future Land Use Map in the City of Dexter Master Plan. The amendment was initiate by a request from the Dexter Community Schools (DCS), to rezone the property, located at 2505 Baker Road (subject site) from PF Public Facilities to Residential use. The property is currently zoned PF Public Facilities. Residential uses are not allowed as a permitted use or special land use in the PF district. In order to consider the rezoning request, the City must, first consider an amendment to the Future Land Use Map.

The Master Plan is a comprehensive document, long-range in it view, and includes specific goals, objectives; strategies and public policy recommendations regarding land use and future grow in the City of Dexter. The Master Plan is intended to serve as a guide for future City decision-making related to land use, community development, economic development and capital improvements projects. The Master Plan was last updated in 2019.

A copy of the proposed Master Plan Amendment is accessible on the City’s website: https://files.dextermi.gov/Boards_Commissions/Planning_Commission/Planning%20Documents/flu.map.amendment.combined.pdf and available for public inspection at the City Offices, 3515 Broad Street, Dexter, MI 48130; weekdays between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Any questions regarding the Master Plan should be directed to the Office of Community Development at 734-580-2233.

Interested parties are invited to attend the public hearing and present their comments. Written comments regarding the proposed amendment to the Master Plan should be submitted to the Office of Community Development at the address listed above or via email to maniol@dextermi.gov, and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2024.

A sign language interpreter, or other assistance, may be provided upon request to the City Clerk jbreyer@dextermi.gov, at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting. Minutes of all meetings are available on the City website, www.dextermi.gov
