Saline Twp: Adoption of International Fire Code
Synopsis of Ordinance Adopting International Fire Code
On July 12, 2023, the Township Board of Saline Township adopted an ordinance adopting by reference the International Fire Code by reference. The following is a summary of the ordinance adopted:
Section 1 Adoption. Adopts the 2021 edition of the International Fire Code (IFC) by reference.
Section 2 Revisions. Makes revisions to the following sections of the IFC:
2.1. Section 101.1. Title. The Fire Code of Saline Township
2.2. Section 103.1 General. Authorizes the Saline Fire Department to implement, administer and enforce the IFC.
2.3. Section 103.2 Appointment. Appoints the Saline Fire Chief as the Fire Code Official
2.4. Section 103.3 is deleted.
2.5. Section 111.1 Board of appeals established. Establishes the Board of Appeals.
2.6. Section 112.4 Violation penalties. Makes violations of the IFC a civil infraction, establishes penalties, authorizes the Township to seek injunctive relief and authorizes the courts to enjoin violations of the IFC.
2.7. Section 1103.5.3 Group I-2, Condition 2. Requires automatic sprinkler systems in certain situations.
2.8. Section 5704.2.9.6.1. Regulates the location of aboveground tanks.
2.9. Section 5706.2.4.4 Regulates the location of aboveground tanks.
2.10. Section 5806.2 Regulates the storage of flammable cryogenic fluids in stationary containers.
2.11. Section 6104.2 Regulates the storage of liquefied petroleum gas
Section 3 Severability. Provides that any section of the ordinance found invalid, does not effect the balance of the ordinance.
Section 4 Publication. Requires the ordinance or a synopsis thereof to be published by law. Section 5 Effective Date. The ordinance shall take effect 30 days after adoption.
