NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING SALINE
TOWNSHIP
PLANNING COMMISSION

Tuesday, December 5, 2023, 7:00 p.m.

To obtain public input and consider the following proposed Zoning Ordinance text amendments to define and regulate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) within the Township:

1. Amend Section 18.02, Definitions to incorporate BESS into the definitions of essential services, public utilities, and private utilities.
2. Amend Section 12.01(B)(e) to exempt Tier 1 (small-scale) BESS from site plan review and approval by the Planning Commission.
3. Amend Section 4.02 to specify that Tier 2 (utility-scale) BESS may be permitted as a special land use in the A-1, I-1, and PSP Districts.

Add Section 11.10, Battery Energy Storage Systems to regulate the siting, design, installation, and operation of BESS.

The proposed amendment text may be examined by appointment by contacting the Saline Township Clerk, Kelly Marion, at 734-429-9968.

Any person having interest in said Hearing or their duly appointed representatives shall there and then be heard at the above described meetings or adjournment thereof relative to any matters that should come before the Planning Commission.

Written comments regarding this amendment should be directed to the Saline Township Clerk at Saline Township, 4254 Arkona Road, Saline, MI 48176.

Saline Township will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, to individuals with disabilities at the meeting/hearing upon ten (10) days notice to Saline Township.
