Saline Twp: Ordinance Amendments

NOTICE OF ADOPTED ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS

SALINE TOWNSHIP

Notice is hereby given that the Saline Township Board approved amendments to the Saline Township Zoning Ordinance at their April 10, 2024 meeting. The amendments define and regulate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) within the Township as follows:

1. Amend Section 18.02, Definitions to incorporate BESS into the definitions of essential services, public utilities, and private utilities.

2. Amend Section 12.01(B)(e) to exempt Type 1 (small-scale) BESS from site plan review and approval by the Planning Commission.

3. Amend Section 4.02 to specify that Type 2 (utility-scale) BESS may be permitted as a special land use in the A-1, I-1, and PSP Districts.

4. Add Section 11.10, Battery Energy Storage Systems to regulate the siting, design, installation, and operation of BESS.
