Dan Michel Slee was born to Beth Stoke Slee and Vergil Nelson Slee on August 14, 1943, and was raised in Ann Arbor alongside his siblings, Sara, David, and Debora.
Dan attended Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, graduating in 1961, where he was a talented wrestler. Eastern Michigan University awarded him a wrestling scholarship, and he earned a BA in English in 1965. He earned an MA in Education, Counseling, and Guidance from the University of Michigan in 1968.
Dan’s career spanned 36 years in public education in Saline Area Schools and Wayne-Westland Community Schools. He was a teacher, a wrestling coach, a counselor, and an administrator. His proudest achievement was initiating the wrestling program at Saline High School, and many of his former wrestlers still call him “Coach.”
Dan met the love of his life, Pamela Ann Krivisky, in 1967 after a blind date coordinated at the suggestion of one of his students, Alyse Krivisky, who is Pam’s younger sister. They married ten months later and created a family full of love, joy, and respect. Dan taught his daughters how to win and lose graciously, how to work hard and be a part of a team, and how to be a patient, compassionate, and accepting parent and spouse.
Dan is survived by his wife Pam; his daughters Lara Slee (Kristine Tuchek) and Mica Werner (Carl); his grandchildren Elliot and Rowan Werner, Emily Slough (Russ), Haley Goulet (Danny), and Todd Tuchek; and his great-grandchildren Livi and Asher Goulet. His siblings David Slee, Sara Brown (Bruce), and Debbie Slee (HJ Schmidt) and their children, and his sister-in-law Alyse Olson (Rick) and her children.
