Dexter Water Polo Battles Top Teams at Home Tournament

The Dexter Dreadnaughts boys water polo team faced a tough slate of opponents this week, beginning with a home matchup against Division 1 No. 1–ranked Ann Arbor Pioneer. Despite a strong defensive effort, Dexter fell 14–3, with goals coming from Quinn Christy, Ethan Vince, and Jude Smith.

The Dreadnaughts bounced back for a busy weekend as they hosted their first Dexter Invitational since 2021 at Wylie. The eight-team field featured several ranked programs from around the state. Dexter finished 2–2 on the weekend, earning decisive wins over Okemos (17–9) and Portage (7–6) while falling to No. 6 Zeeland (12–5) and No. 10 Mason (10–6).

Leading the way for Dexter was Ethan Vince, who tallied 14 goals, six steals, and five kickouts drawn over the weekend. Jude Smith added 13 goals, nine steals, and four kickouts, while Quinn Christy recorded three goals, ten assists, and five steals to fuel the offense.

On the defensive end, goalkeeper Derek Sletten turned in a huge performance with 23 saves across the tournament. Owen Dauw contributed three goals, three assists, and five steals, and Dustin Bauer and Toby Finn each added key steals and defensive plays.

Dexter looks to build on the momentum as they continue their late season push heading into district play.
