Olga Jean Mangold

Olga Jean Mangold, of Saline, Michigan, and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born September 13, 1930, in Jackson, Michigan, Olga earned a degree in accounting with a minor in art from Michigan State College. A six-week bike tour across Europe sparked her lifelong love of travel, leading her across Europe and Asia with a spirit of adventure and independence.

In 1959, while working in Saigon, Vietnam, she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Mangold. They married that same year in England and spent 58 wonderful years together. After living in California, they settled in Saline, Michigan, where they raised three children and made their home for over 50 years.

Olga held roles at Washtenaw County, The Saline Reporter, and the IRS. She was a talented cook, quilter, and crafter—especially known for her creative birthday cakes. Faith and community played a significant role in Olga’s life; she and Bill were devoted members of Saline’s United Methodist Church.

In 1995, Olga and Bill began wintering in Palm Beach Gardens, enjoying golf and time with loved ones. Her adventurous spirit never faded, and even in later years she traveled widely with her family.

Olga is survived by her daughters, Kathryn L. Mangold and Julianne M. Greene; son, Mark W. (Janine) Mangold; grandchildren, Chelsey (Richard) Jenkins, Kaitlan (Isaac) Miller, Emmalie Greene, Olivia (Roy) Southwell, Zachary Mangold; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her parents, Robert and Ruth Pierce.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11th, from 10–11 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church of Saline, followed by an 11 A.M. memorial service with Pastor Amy Triebwasser officiating. Inurnment and a luncheon will follow at the church. To leave a memory or sign her guestbook, visit www.rbfhsaline.com.

Her life was filled with love, adventure, and creativity. She will be deeply missed. “Bye for now.”
