Sally Audrey Lammers
Dexter, Michigan
Sally Audrey Lammers, 82, passed away peacefully in her home on February 5th, 2025. As the Bible taught her, she is now absent from the body and “at home with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:8.
She was born July 25th, 1942 in Rochester, New York and spent her early years outside of Boston, Massachusetts with her parents Paul & Audrey Gleitsmann and younger brother Peter. She left with “a rebellious spirit” she said, to go to school far from home. She got her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Bethesda Nursing School, in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was in Ohio she made two life-altering choices: she humbly accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and she happily married Stewart Joseph Lammers. Shortly after having their first two children, they moved to Michigan and settled in Dexter on their sprawling eleven acres, where she raised her family. She appreciated the land, her animals, and displayed a giftedness in growing things.
Sally had four more children and was a loving and cheerful mother to all six of them. She patiently trained her kids, and introduced them to Jesus and the Word of God. She readily kept an organized home, and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.
In addition to being a devoted homemaker, she also served her community as a registered nurse, caring for others at a local practice and with the University of Michigan.
As time when on, she was overjoyed when grandchildren arrived, and cherished each one of them. She also warmly embraced her children’s spouses and any friends, neighbors, and strangers, with special care and prayer.
Christ was the foundation of her life. She was a gifted Bible teacher and loved delving into the fine details of God’s Word. After her kids were grown, she was an active member of Calvary Bible Church in Ypsilanti where she found joy in fellowship and service until it physically became too difficult to attend. Throughout her life, her unwavering trust in Christ gave her strength, especially as she battled lupus for many decades. Her resilience, positive attitude, and deep faith inspired all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother Peter (Anne), her husband Stewart, her six children Peter, Jennifer Reed (Paul), David (Marcy), Paul (Eril), Joseph (Tiffany), Daniel (Heather), and thirteen grandchildren: Jacob, Meghan, Shaylan, Sebastian, Rhemi, Hailey, Lia, Charlotte, Hudson, Anna, Sophia, Olivia, and Michelle. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Audrey Gleitsmann and grandson Ari.
Sally was an amazing soul. She was sharp, sweet, and strong-minded. She never complained, and had a ready smile for others, even when suffering. Her legacy of faith in Christ, love for others, and strength in suffering, will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Services for Sally will be held on Saturday, February 15th, 11AM at Calvary Bible Church, 8318 Carpenter Road, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
