Dexter Township Police Report, April 2024

In April 2024, Deputies responded to 140 calls for police service in Dexter Township, down from 158 last year, an 11% decrease. Total calls for 2024 (Jan-Apr) are 596, down from 665 for the same period the previous year, a 10% drop.

Officers conducted 53 traffic stops, down from 91 last year. Nineteen citations were issued.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office reported the following details to Dexter Township:

On April 28th, Deputies were dispatched to the Pickerel Lake boat launch for a disorderly person complaint. The caller informed Metro Dispatch that they had returned to their vehicle from canoeing and found that it had been broken into. The caller informed Metro Dispatch that the suspect was still inside the vehicle. Upon arrival, Deputies found the suspect walking away from the vehicle and detained him without incident. During a search of the arrestee, Deputies located suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The arrestee was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Lab results are pending with the Michigan State Police Forensic Laboratory.
