Natural Dye Workshop with Marigolds & Shibori at Maggie’s Organics

Join NDCo. at Maggie’s Organics in learning how to make a dye bath using marigold flowers and a shibori technique to create a beautiful, naturally dyed Maggie’s Organic 100% organic cotton t-shirt! Shibori is a resist technique that might look similar to tie-dye; however, it has been around since the 6th century. Natural dyeing dates back even further to the year 2600 BC. Using what you’ve learned, you will create a shibori pattern on your Maggie’s t-shirt and place it into a marigold dye bath that will produce a gorgeous golden yellow. If we have time at the end, there will be an option of altering the yellow dye to an olive green using ferrous sulfate. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
