Jeffery Munger, 70, of Dexter, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him.
Jeff proudly served in the United States Navy, where he worked as a propulsion engineer in the boiler room aboard the USS Dahlgren. Following his military service, he went on to work at the University of Michigan Hospital. He began as a boiler room operator, later advanced to turbine operator, and ultimately served as head engineer, a role that reflected his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic.
Jeff was a fun-loving man with a strong personality and a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. He was a natural jokester who enjoyed making others laugh. He had a deep passion for working on cars, always ready to spend time under the hood or attend car shows to admire and share his interest with others. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and took pride in working in his yard, where he could often be found putting his time and energy into keeping things just the way he liked them.
Jeff lived life on his own terms and will be remembered for his individuality, his humor, and the things he loved most.
He is survived by his fiancée, Darlene Horen; daughters, Sarah Munger and her partner Amy Johnson, and Angela Lacy and her husband Rob Lacy; and his grandchildren, Aria and Luca Lacy, who will carry his memory with them always.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Munger, and his mother, Mabel (Rennie) Schmidt.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 9th from 1-5pm at the Dexter American Legion Post 557 (8225 Dexter Chelsea Rd, Dexter, MI, United States, 48130).
Though he is gone, he will be remembered in quiet moments by the water, in the hum of a well-running engine, and in the laughter he brought to those who knew him.
