Peter Bowe

Peter Bowe (January 4, 1956 – May 21, 2026) passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with cancer.

Peter lived a life full of curiosity, kindness, and lifelong learning. Peter’s life was spent in search of truth and knowledge—a search that led him to tugboats in New Orleans, a “golden year” in Boulder, and a summer in Portugal before settling in Saline where he built a life, business, and family.

A self-described student of nature, Peter approached the world with curiosity and without judgement.

While he held a firm moral code, he didn’t want to be remembered as a perfect person, but instead as someone who always tried to do the right thing in a complicated world. He was kind and loyal to the people who mattered most to him.

He was devoted to his wife, Mary, and children Alice and Grace. He took his family seriously, accepted them unconditionally, and was a steady presence in their lives.

Peter will be intensely missed by those who knew him. There are no words to describe the loss.

In addition to his family, Peter is survived by his siblings and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of his life will be held in his beloved garden. In lieu of flowers, Peter would hope that you plant a tree, start a compost pile, forgive a grudge, or make a donation to Food Gatherers or another organization that you feel honors his memory.
