Before hashtags and habit-tracking apps, New Year’s resolutions were simpler, and often funnier. In this January 1, 1975, snapshot from the Saline Reporter, middle school students were asked to write down their hopes for the year ahead. The results are charmingly honest, promising to stop picking on siblings, get better grades, be nicer to pets, and maybe, just maybe, stay out of trouble. If any of you see your name in there, drop us a line and let us know how it worked out!
