Saline Police said the ‘suspect handed a note to a teller demanding money’

Police nab bank robber after he fled the Old National Bank branch on June 27.

The Saline Police said at 9:30 a.m. on June 27, Saline Police officers responded to a reported bank robbery at the Old National at 200 N. Maple Road.

“The suspect handed a note to a teller demanding money and implied he was armed with a weapon,” Saline Police said in statement. “The suspect reportedly fled the bank running southeast and got into a white truck. Several seconds later, the suspect exited the white truck and continued to run southbound across Michigan Ave. near the CVS store.”

Saline Police said Metro-Dispatch received the call at 9:31 a.m. and immediately broadcast the suspect description over the radio, as well as the direction of travel.

“A Saline Police Officer, who was investigating an unrelated crash on Michigan Avenue, spotted a subject matching the description running across Michigan Avenue near Maple Rd and she engaged in a foot pursuit,” police said. “A second officer from Saline Police Department also gave chase and the suspect was apprehended near Michigan Avenue, east of Maple on the north side of Michigan Avenue. “

The suspect is a 41-year-old Saline man. He’s now in custody and being held at the county jail.

Saline Police said additional police officers from the Pittsfield Township and Milan police departments, Michigan State Police as well as deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office responded after hearing the incident unfold over the Metro-Dispatch radio system to assist Saline police at the crime scene. The additional agencies also assisted along the pursuit route to the pint of apprehension, searching for physical evidence and witnesses.

The Saline Police said they wished to thank the Metro-Dispatch staff and the assisting police officers and department for their professionalism and help.

The suspect’s arraignment was at the 14A-1 court over the weekend of June 29-30. The Saline Police updated the Sun Times News after this:

This morning in 14 A1 District Court, Woody Harold LaBudde, a 41-year-old male, was arraigned on the following charges: Ct. 1 Bank Robbery, Ct. 2 Robbery – Armed, Ct. 3 Resisting & Obstructing a Police Officer, Ct. 4-Resisting & Obstructing a Police Officer.

He was given a one-million-dollar bond, 10 percent, and will remain at the Washtenaw County Jail.

The Probable Cause hearing is scheduled for July 11, at 9 a.m. in the 14 A-1 District Court.
