Tracy Ann (Synk) McDowell passed away peacefully on the morning of May 10 from metastatic breast cancer, at the age of 63. She fought her disease with courage and grace, with her family always by her side.
Tracy was born April 30, 1962, to Bernard R. and LaVerne A. (Zidek) Synk in Berea, OH. She attended Berea High School, graduating in 1980. She was a varsity cheerleader and a member of the synchronized swim team. She went on to attend Miami University, graduating in 1984 with a B.S. in early childhood education. She ultimately earned her masters degree and taught for 29 years, most of those at the West Holmes Middle School in Millersburg, OH. She was a very caring and committed teacher, always giving her best for her students, and she absolutely adored the Middle School staff.
While at Miami University, she met her husband Mike and they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. She and Mike loved to travel, she was a voracious reader, enjoyed a nice meal out, and liked to find a good bargain.
Most of all, Tracy was a devoted wife, mother, and Nan. Recently she and Mike moved from their hometown of Millersburg to Avon Lake, OH and Dexter, MI to be near their family during retirement. Her absolute most favorite thing to do was spend time with her daughter Kaitlyn Spears, husband Chris, and their twin sons Tad and Finn; and her son Clay, his wife Cassie, and their children Emma and Connor. Her family will miss her dearly.
Tracy was kind, empathetic, and a great listener. We hope her memory is a blessing to those who knew her and were touched by her kindness.
There will be no calling hours or service and family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Avon Lake United Church of Christ (32801 Electric Blvd. Avon Lake, OH 44012). Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.alexanderfhinc.com.
