NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ROLL
TIMBER RIDGE SUBDIVISION SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 1002
TOWNSHIP OF YORK
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN
TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF YORK, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN, AND ANY OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:
Please Take Notice that the Supervisor and assessing officer of York Township have reported to the Township Board and filed with the Township Clerk for public examination a special assessment roll prepared by them covering all properties within the Timber Ridge Subdivision Special Assessment District No. 1002 (SAD) benefited by an approved road improvement plan on file in the Township Clerk’s office, York Township Halll, 11560 Stony Creek Road, Milan, Michigan 48160. The assessment roll was prepared for the purpose of assessing a portion of road improvement costs upon properties within the SAD.
Please Take Further Notice that the Assessor further reported that the roll was created based upon a partial assessment in the amount of $748,000 for approved road improvements, to be divided equally between 67 parcels of land within the SAD, for a total special assessment of $11,165.00 upon each parcel in the SAD, plus interest and penalties that accrue over the life of the SAD, if any.
Please Take Further Notice that the York Township Board will meet for public hearing on the proposed SAD roll to hear and review written objections. The public hearing will be held at the York Township Hall, 11560 Stony Creek Road, Milan, Michigan 48160, on June 2, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
Please Take Further Notice any person who wishes to object to the assessment roll shall do so in writing by filing same with the Township Clerk either before or during the meeting. Paper and writing materials will be provided at the hearing for anyone who wants to file written objections to the roll. After the hearing is complete, the Township Board may confirm the roll as reported or as amended at the meeting, refer the roll back to the Supervisor for revision, or annul it and direct a new roll to be made.
Please Take Further Notice that the proposed assessment roll for the SAD is on file with the Township Clerk and may be examined during regular office hours until the time of said hearing, and will also be available for examination at the hearing.
Please Take Further Notice appearance and protest in writing at the hearing is required in order to appeal the amount of the assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal. An owner or party in interest, or his or her agent, may appear in person at the hearing to protest the roll in writing, or may file his or her appearance or protest by letter, and personal appearance shall not be required. An owner or person having an interest in real property SAD property who protests in writing at the hearing may file a written appeal of the special assessment with the Michigan Tax Tribunal within 30 days after confirmation of the roll.
Please Take Further Notice that all interested persons whether for or against the proposed special assessment roll are invited to be present at the aforesaid time and place and to submit comments concerning any of the foregoing. The York Township Clerk will provide necessary and reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed material being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disabilities at the hearing upon four (4) days’ notice to the Township Clerk. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact the Township Clerk at the address or telephone number listed below.
