Among the many intriguing shops in downtown Tecumseh, Anthro Apothecary stands as a quaint haven for those seeking natural wellness. Founded by Michaela Holdridge, a cultural anthropologist turned entrepreneur, the charmingly nostalgic shop is a culmination of her experiences and passion for ethically sourced herbal products.

Originally a vendor at local farmers markets, Michaela’s journey began with selling herbal teas before expanding into a broader range of products. “I started with just a few bath and body items,” Michaela recalls, emphasizing the care she puts into infusing each product with natural herbs. Today, Anthro Apothecary offers everything from organic herbs and spices to essential oils, natural lotions, and eco-friendly household products.

The idea to open the shop came to Michaela and her family as they were searching for a community that mirrored their values. “We wanted our children to be raised in a place where they know their neighbors and feel at home,” she explains. With its friendly store owners and vibrant local events, Tecumseh provided just that.

For Michaela, the shop is an extension of her academic background and personal philosophy. “It really is about connecting with our roots and understanding how traditional practices can complement modern life,” she says. This connection is evident in every aspect of Anthro Apothecary, a small business that not only sells products but also fosters a community dedicated to well-being.
