Awarding Scholarships and Celebrating the Bicentennial, the Dexter Lions are Busy

community service, Dexter Lions Club, Scholarships

As a community service group who volunteer their time to help others and improve the community through different activities and events throughout the year, the Dexter Lions are always busy making a positive impact.

They recently recognized six local high school graduates with some help for the next step in their lives. The Dexter Lions awarded six-$1,000 scholarships to Dexter High School Seniors for 2024. Five scholarships went to: Owen Bruderly, Charlotte Bruderly, Dominic Shaw, Bonnie Keating, and Lachlan Imfeld while the Ronald Raiford Memorial Scholarship went to Emily Baksik.

The funds for these scholarships were made possible from the ad sales and sales of the Fall Sports Program.

To help more efforts like this down the road, they will be selling items for the upcoming Dexter Bicentennial.

They are selling Bicentennial Pins, which can be purchased at the following locations: The Dexter Pub, Hearts & Flowers, Lily’s, 3Bird, Turchin Jewelers Dexter Print & Embroidery, Reeds Barber Shop, Sarah’s Barber Shop and Aubree’s. All funds from the sale of the pins will go to the Dexter Historical Society.

The Lions will also be selling Bicentennial T-Shirts in town on June 20, 21, 22 and 23, with all the proceeds going to Faith In Action, and they will be scooping free ice cream on Friday, June 21 at the Dexter Historical Museum on Inverness from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the Time Capsule event.
