NOTICEOF ADOPTION

ORDINANCE NO. 2026-03

At a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dexter, Michigan called to order by Mayor Keough on, June 8, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at 3515 Broad St., Dexter, MI 48130, the following ordinance was adopted:

MEMBERS PRESENT: Popov, Hubbard, Tell, Semifero, Aldag, Keough

MEMBERS ABSENT:  Schlaff

AN ORDINANCE SETTING THE WATER, SEWER, AND RUBBISH RATES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2026

The City of Dexter hereby ordains:

Section 1:        SEWER RATES

      Ready to Serve Monthly Fee                                    $14.27

      Per 1,000 Gallons                                                     $17.56

Section 2:        WATER RATES

      Ready To Serve Monthly Fee                                   $11.40

      First Meter Per 1,000 Gallons                                   $5.13

      Second Meter Per 1,000 Gallons                             $6.94

Section 3:        RUBBISH RATES

      Residential Rubbish Monthly Fee                             $31.50

      Commercial Rubbish Rate                                        Contracted Rate + 3%

Section 4:        OTHER CHARGES AND PENALTIES

      Penalties on Late Charges                                       2% Cumulative

      Turn-on and Turn-off Charges                                  $35

      Meter Calibration Charge                                         $35

      Water Meters Larger Than 1”                                   Actual Cost

Section 5:        EXTRA STRENGTH SURCHARGES/INDUSTRIAL COST RECOVERY

            Extra Strength Surcharges:                           

                        BOD in excess of 300 mg/l                             $1.35/pound

                        Suspended solids in excess of 275 mg/l        $0.48/pound

                        Phosphorous as P in excess of 12 mg/l         $9.99/pound   

            Industrial Cost Recovery:

                        Water usage in excess of 22 gpepd               $0.60 per 1,000 gal.

                        BOD in excess of 300 mg/l                             $1.35/pound

                        Suspended solids in excess of 275 mg/l        $0.48/pound

                        Phosphorous as P in excess of 12 mg/l         $9.99/pound

Section 6:        Effective Date

This Ordinance shall take effect upon publication as required by Section 15.12 of the City of Dexter Charter.
