A group of groups recently collaborated in Dexter for some community cleanup.
Members of Dexter High School’s National Honor Society, Robotics Club, SRSLY, Dexter Area Historical Society, and Dexter Rotary rolled up their sleeves for spring sprucing up around town.
Bev Hill, Vice-President of the Dexter Area Historical Society, led the “Helping Hands Day initiative.” Although not an official event by any one of the groups, Bev organized their efforts to contribute to the community because “We wanted to help Dexter, so we reached out to others who could join us.”

Drawing from the spirit of past efforts like “Christmas in April,” their joint efforts resulted in an impressive turnout that included the cleanup of Forest Lawn Cemetery, with volunteers filling 72 bags of leaves and debris, along with a huge brush pile. They also extended their helping hands to senior citizens’ homes and a local park.
“It was just a way to help Dexter,” commented Bev. The collective efforts of these volunteers made a tangible impact, showcasing the best of community spirit and camaraderie.
