Meeting Synopsis

MONDAY, June 23, 2025 – 7:00 P.M.

Acting Chair, Ron Howdyshell called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members Present: Ken Prielipp, Howard Sias, Nanette Havens, Kevin Kern, Ron Howdyshell. No community members were present.

Motion to remove the Dexter Builders plan from the Agenda, as information was not yet finalized, by Sias, seconded by Prielipp, All Ayes, Agenda approved with Dexter Builders removed from the agenda at this time.

 Motion to approve May 19,2025 Planning Commission meeting minutes as submitted, by Sias, seconded by Prielipp.  Motion carried.    

CITIZENS’ COMMENTS/PARTICIPATION-None present

ZONING ADMINISTRATIOR’S REPORT—Sastre went over the two Enforcement complaints. Several compliance permits are processed.

PUBLIC HEARING—Commercial Solar. No community members were present.

OLD BUSINESS: Discussed having a bond of 100% or 125% for Commercial solar installations.                                                                                                                                                                               

Commercial Solar-Motion to adopt a resolution recommending approval to the Township Board of the zoning ordinance amendment Section 5.58, Renewable Energy Collection systems, Large, as discussed at June 23. 2025 Planning Commission meeting., motion by Prielipp, seconded by Sias, All Aye. Motion carried. Note to strike items 10, 11, 12 and 13 from page 8 of the draft copy enclosed in the meeting packet. Michelle Marin stood in for Paul Montagno.

NEW BUSINESS–None                                             

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

TOWNSHIP BOARD ACTIVITIES—Nanette Havens-Approval of 425 agreement with Sylvan and Lima Townships. Truck and Pond ordinances, voting to remove them, was denied. Summer tax bills go out Friday June 27.

SEMCOG – Bill VanRiper- Budget has not gone through.

WESTERN WASHTENAW REGIONAL ADVISORY GROUP-Bill VanRiper– City of Chelsea traffic study was done by tracking individual cells phones from people that got off 1-94 on M52 exits.  Also, Dexter city traffic is up 74%.
