At its June 22 meeting, the Dexter City Council approved Mayor Shawn Keough’s recommendations for appointments and reappointments to several city boards and commissions.
The council approved the following appointments:
- Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee: Laurence Kloss, Virginia Davis, Anna Oostendorp, Meredith Giltner
- Downtown Development Authority: Breana Jackson, Christi Lower, Randy Willis
- Parks and Recreation Commission: Ron Miller, Joanne Wagner, Melissa Messer
- Planning Commission: Jim Carty, Karen Roberts
The council also completed this year’s student appointments to city boards and commissions. At its June 8 meeting, the council appointed eight students to serve one-year terms from July 2026 through June 2027.
The student representatives are:
- City Council: Calvin Schutte (entering Grade 11) and Ewan Imfeld (entering Grade 12)
- Planning Commission: Alexis Meier (entering Grade 11) and Henry Nahorski (entering Grade 11)
- Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee: Lucille Platter (entering Grade 10), Charlotte Ford (entering Grade 11), and Dasha Hubert (entering Grade 12, reappointment)
- Parks and Recreation Commission: Alex Finch (entering Grade 12), James Butrum (entering Grade 12, appointed at the June 22 council meeting)
The city continues to seek volunteers to fill vacancies on the Economic Development Corporation (three seats), the Downtown Development Authority (one district resident seat), and the Zoning Board of Appeals (one alternate seat). Residents interested in serving on a board or commission can apply through the City of Dexter.
