SRSLY Chelsea is excited to announce Melissa Goldstein has joined the team as the coalition’s Program Coordinator. Melissa is passionate about supporting youth and families and is excited to work alongside the Chelsea community to promote youth mental health and substance abuse prevention.
In this new role, Melissa will be facilitating programs, building partnerships, and creating new opportunities for the Chelsea community. She will be working with local schools, parents, and community organizations to strengthen SRSLY’s collective efforts in making Chelsea a safer, healthier place for our youth.
“We are so excited for all that Melissa brings to the table, with both expertise in community organizing and social work, she’s the perfect fit for this role.” said Kate Yocum, SRSLY Chelsea Director. “Having Melissa on our staff will help us create new growth opportunities for the coalition and will be better enhance the support we are able to offer Chelsea students and families.”
As an active-duty Army spouse, Melissa has lived in communities across the country, giving her a broad perspective of what makes a community strong. She brings a strong background in communications, business management, and community engagement, with experience as a Communications Coordinator at the Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, a Board Member for Wheel & Cog Children’s Museum, and in various small business roles. Holding a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Southern New Hampshire University, Melissa is currently pursuing a master’s in social work at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. When asked about her new role with SRSLY Chelsea, Melissa said, “I have been lucky to live in many great communities across the United States, but I’ve always been drawn to tightly knit communities like Chelsea that have residents that are passionate about where they live. When we landed in Michigan a year ago, we instantly fell in love with downtown Chelsea. I feel lucky to now have a small part in making an impact in this great community. I look forward to meeting more community members and working with the local students in promoting all the wonderful things SRSLY does in the community.”
