The Astor Academy proudly announces the graduation of its first preschool class since inception in Chelsea, Michigan this past September. The ceremony, held on The Astor Academy’s campus located at 128 Van Buren Street, marked a significant milestone for the institution in shaping young minds through a blend of arts-integrated and STEAM + learning.
Founded on the principles of fostering creativity and early childhood development through the arts, The Astor Academy offers a unique educational experience for children newly born through five years of age. The academy’s commitment to integrating arts into education aims to nurture not just academic skills, but also creativity, confidence, etiquette and social skills among its young learners.
The graduating preschool class of 2024 included Marlo Colwell, Monroe Gracia, Beckham Kellog and Nolan Turner, who captivated a full house of friends and relatives with their enthusiastic graduation day performances. Under the guidance of Resident Artists David Culliton and Emily Barrett, along with Head Preschool Instructor Angela Emond and Center Director Stephanie Templin, the students showcased several numbers, including a heartfelt rendition of “So Long Farewell” from The Sound of Music.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the graduation of our inaugural preschool class,” expressed Center Director Stephanie Templin. “The growth we’ve witnessed in these young learners over the past year – in their confidence, poise, and kindness towards others – has been truly remarkable.”
The Astor Academy continues to offer educational full-day programs for young children, emphasizing a holistic approach that integrates arts into its daily curriculum. Additionally, starting in August, The Astor will extend its offerings to include weekend birthday parties for children aged 1-10 years, welcoming all members of the community to celebrate special occasions in a creative and nurturing environment.
