Prepare to be captivated by the insights of renowned author and UFO investigator Raymond Szymanski. He will be presenting at the Dexter Library on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, starting at 6:30 pm. The event will feature an informative PowerPoint presentation on the famous 1966 Dexter ‘Swamp Gas’ UFO incident, followed by an extensive Q&A session and a book signing. This event is free and open to the public, offering a unique opportunity to engage with a leading expert in the field.

In March 1966, southeastern Michigan experienced a significant wave of UFO sightings, with daily reports from police officers, credible civilians, and military personnel in the area. On March 20, 1966, dozens of police officers swarmed the Frank Mannor farm in Dexter, pursuing a flying saucer that many witnesses claimed to have seen, eventually documenting their observations officially.
Michigan’s leading Congressman at the time, future President Gerald Ford, demanded a government investigation, prompting the U.S. Air Force to send its UFO team, Project Blue Book, to look into the matter. After two and a half days of collecting data, Project Blue Book’s lead investigator, Dr. J. Allen Hynek, concluded that the Dexter UFO was mere ‘swamp gas’—spontaneously combusting rotting vegetation found in nearby swamps.
Despite this explanation, skepticism remained. A few weeks later, a special Congressional committee interrogated the Secretary of the Air Force and key Project Blue Book personnel to uncover the truth behind the Michigan UFO reports. However, the Air Force maintained its ‘swamp gas’ explanation and ultimately closed Project Blue Book in 1969.

On August 20, Ray Szymanski will not only revisit these pivotal events from the 1966 Dexter UFO sightings but also invite you to be part of the investigation. He will offer a critical analysis suggesting that the phenomenon may not have been swamp gas after all. The presentation will include compelling video and audio evidence from eyewitnesses that contradicts the Blue Book explanation. Following the Q&A session, the audience will have the opportunity to vote on whether Dr. Hynek’s ‘swamp gas’ conclusion was a coordinated government cover-up or a factual statement, making this a truly interactive and thought-provoking experience.
To delve deeper into the 1966 Swamp Gas UFOs, attendees can explore Ray Szymanski’s book, which will be available for signing at the event. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with a leading UFO researcher and uncover the mysteries of one of Michigan’s most famous UFO incidents.
