Due to extreme temperatures, Washtenaw County has designated three county buildings as additional cooling sites from June 29th through July 2nd, 2026.
Tuesday, June 30th at noon through Thursday, July 2nd at 8PM Washtenaw County is predicted to experience an extreme heat watch. During these potentially dangerous temperatures, there are several places to cool off. The following county buildings are designated as cooling sites this week Monday through Thursday from 8:30am – 5:00pm:
- Towner Human Services Building 555 Towner St, Ypsilanti
- Learning Resource Center, 4135 Washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor
- Administration Building 200 N Main St, Ann Arbor
Additional cooling sites are located throughout the county. A complete list of the sites with addresses, contact information, and hours can be found on the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development’s website. In addition to the sites listed, all Washtenaw County office building lobbies are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours as cooling sites. Please check back regularly as sites may be added throughout the summer. Sites are not open on holidays unless otherwise specified.
The Delonis Center will also activate “weather amnesty” due to dangerously high temperatures. During times of extreme heat when the heat index is 90 degrees or above, the Delonis Center will open extra space to be used as a cooling center during the day and into evening hours. For further information, call the Delonis Center at (734) 662-2829.
During extreme heat, stay indoors as much as possible and limit exposure to the sun. More hot weather safety tips can be found on the Washtenaw County Health Department website.
