Cornman Farms is officially listed. The 27 acres of land, just west of downtown in Dexter Township, has served as a wedding/event space and is still in full operation till the end of October, but with the listing its owners are now looking for a buyer and someone to take the venue and land into its next chapter.

It’s listed with local realtor Brent Flewelling of Reinhart Realtors. Located at 8540 Island Lake Road, the price is at $3.3 million.

The listing describes Cornman this way: “Set on 27.61 acres, Zingerman’s Cornman Farms is an extraordinary historic estate that traces its roots to the 1830s. The 1834 farmhouse, completely renovated in 2014 with no expenses spared, pairs with a magnificent 1894 red barn event venue, blending timeless character with modern function. A true turn-key operation, the property transfers with a liquor license, special use permit, and many of the small details needed to run a premium event center. Seller will continue operations through Fall 2026 for a seamless transition. Exceptional infrastructure includes a commercial-grade kitchen, an 1888 stone smokehouse, addnl structures, rolling pastures, and a full farm generator – plus gas & electric hookups for tented events. Flat grounds accommodate tents up to 60×120.The 4-seasons barn ensures year-round venue capability. Ideal for agritourism, farm-to-table dining, weddings, private retreats, B&B, or beyond. Could also be converted back to a spectacular private residence.”

The location also has a Class C (on premise) license plus the additional licensing for Specialty Designed Merchant  (this allows them to sell beer, wine, and mixed spirit drinks for off-premises consumption, aka “to go”), outdoor service and Sunday sales.

The current owners have told the Sun Times News they are hoping to find someone who can use the property in a similar way as its being used now and take it to the next chapter – possibly adding low density residential, increasing the wedding event space, etc.

Currently the property is zoned as rural residential, which is a 2-acre minimum.

The owners said they have had a number of people already express interest with lots of different opportunities. They said some look like good fit, and some might not be due to what the township will allow.

Of the potential for a possible buyer, current ownership said it’s a phenomenal opportunity to preserve an amazing historic building in Dexter that is currently approved and with a special land use permit for wedding venue and event space.  They said they’re excited to go to the market and try to maximize exposure to find the right fit.

The current owners said they are going to do their best to pass the torch, so the next buyer and community have the most opportunity for success.
