Donald Joseph Thibodeau Jr., age 70, passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2026.

Born and raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Don later settled in Chelsea where he built a successful career, a loving home, and a life filled with family and friends.

Don was a devoted husband to Sherry, loving father to Brendon, cherished uncle to Jack and Luke, and loyal friend to many. His warm smile, generous spirit, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Don worked at Chelsea Hospital in Materials Management for 20 years. During that time, Don volunteered at the Lake Louise Summer Camp for individuals with TBI and assisted with the St. Louis Center fundraisers. Following that, Don took on the new challenge of sales at Nicholson’s and later at Lloyd Bridges Traveland, now Camping World. He enjoyed helping customers find their happy place on wheels.

Don had a lifelong love for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, deer or waterfowl hunting, riding the dunes at Silver Lake, spending winter breaks in the Florida Keys, or simply enjoyed sitting on his dock watching the sunset over the lake. His love of the outdoors was more than a pastime; it was a way of life that he proudly passed on to his son, Brendon. As a proud and devoted uncle, Don spent many afternoons on the pontoon with his nephews, Jack and Luke, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.

While he treasured his time in the woods and on the water, the family also enjoyed many adventures together in their RV. Whether casting a line, sharing stories, or taking peaceful boat rides on the lake, Don found joy in the simple moments spent with those he loved most.

Music was one of Don’s greatest joys and gifts. As a talented and versatile musician, he played multiple instruments and entertained audiences for decades. Through his music, he brought smiles, laughter, and happiness to thousands of people. Whether performing on stage or at a bonfire with friends, Don’s love of music was contagious and touched countless lives.

Above all, Don will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his sense of humor, his remarkable musical talent, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry; his son, Brendon and Allison (Hughes) Thibodeau; his sister, Carol Hansen; and his brother, Dan Thibodeau. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., as well as at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Village Church, 3430 Dover St., Dexter, with Fr. Brendan J. Walsh presiding.
