Martha Megan Lehr (née Quigley), age 56, of Dexter, MI passed away at her home on June 15, 2026, six months after being diagnosed with cancer. Born June 7, 1970 in Altoona, PA, Martha was the daughter of Merry L. Neff and the late Kenneth H. Quigley.

Martha grew up in Mechanicsburg, PA, graduating from Cumberland Valley High School in 1988. She received her BS in Biology from the Univ. of Pittsburgh in 1993 and was also certified as an EMT. In 1998 she earned a BS in Nursing from the Univ. of Michigan. She returned to school at age 52 and earned an MS in Nursing in 2023, also from the U of M.

Martha began working at the U of M in a cancer research lab, where she met her husband, Jeff. She then worked as a registered nurse at the U of M Hospital in the bone marrow transplant unit and in an ICU unit. Later, she provided hospice care and served as a triage nurse in family practice. After becoming a Nurse Practitioner, she provided on-site medical care at an industrial facility.

Helping others was Martha’s profession and her passion. Outside of work, she loved gardening, painting, and pottery. Martha was fiercely loyal, whip-smart, principled, kind, witty, and hilarious. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family and friends left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Martha is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey E. Lehr; her children, Anna L. Lehr and Henry K. Lehr, both of Dexter, MI, and her stepson, Brett Lehr of Troy, MI; her mother, Merry L. Neff of Ann Arbor, MI; and her sister, Laurel E. Quigley of Sinking Spring, PA.

A celebration of Martha’s life will be held on Sat. June 27 at 12:00 p.m. at her home in Dexter.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to cancer research. Martha devoted her life to caring for patients, and at a time when federal support for cancer research faces significant cuts, continuing that work would be a fitting tribute to her memory.
