Darana Dragway-Milan employees joined London Township residents April 24 to clean up local roads and ditches through the Adopt-A-Road program.
The cleanup covered stretches of Ostrander, Tuttlehill and Snell roads, according to information provided by the dragway. The effort was supported by the Monroe County Road Commission, which supplied safety vests and garbage bags.
Nikki Bush, track operations manager for Darana Dragway-Milan, said the track was asked if it would be interested in helping and immediately said yes.
“I want us to be able to give back to the residents around our track and help the community,” Bush said. “I want us to be involved in helping any way we can, when we can.”
Bush joined Darana Dragway-Milan employees Denise Walis and Sarah Hoag, along with London Township resident Pam Ackerman, for the cleanup. She said the dragway plans to keep participating in future cleanups.
“Yes, we will be doing it again in the fall and hopefully each year,” Bush said.
According to the Monroe County Road Commission, Adopt-A-Road volunteers help maintain a clean environment and strengthen community pride by picking up litter from county roadsides.
The 2026 Adopt-A-Road pickup dates are April 24-26, July 17-19 and Sept. 25-27. Those interested in helping with future cleanups can watch London Township’s Facebook pages for details on how to get involved.
