During Milan’s Third Thursday celebration on June 18, the Greater Milan Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Monroe County, opened the doors of its first permanent Milan office at 3 E. Main St.
Affiliate director Maxine Tewsley, Chair Dave Snyder and Community Foundation of Monroe County Executive Director Valerie Orr welcomed visitors, gathered community feedback and distributed cookies to mark the occasion. The foundation oversees 30 funds with assets exceeding $5 million and awarded $150,000 in grants to local schools and nonprofits last year.
Up and down Main Street, the community celebrated the coming of summer with a community market, live music, food trucks, a visit from Click-it the Cricket, and other family-friendly activities.
